First, we love Spanky's embracing of the Sprauger #YesAllTouts terminology recently, so biased right from the jump. Love the title of this episode.
1:30 - Mentions the Sprauger chart right off the bat. It's a #blessed day.
2:40 - Define Tout - "A tout is somebody that sells picks. Might be disguised with selling access. Some sites will sell you projections."
4:30 - Uses the phrase "Lay of the Year" and I'm crying I am laughing so hard.
Spanky then starts going through the chart and just reading the sections which don't really require much note taking.
7:50 - "A coordinated onslaught by all these accounts is the easiest way to get your account limited / banned." "Bookmaker can see this onslaught with their software and your account is identified." I have thought about this topic more than a well-adjusted human should.
15:00 - The Undercapitalized - Glad Spanky took the position he did "you will be found" if you have something of value. If you're undercapitalized, if you're a younger originator reading this and you think you have an edge, you will be found and, if you want to speed up the process, there are certain people to reach out to just be prepared to sell yourself.
17:30 - "No one is doing stuff out of the goodness of their heart, everyone is trying to earn." This is the first thing I will slightly disagree with, BUT Spanky is right in the same way #YesAllTouts is correct - it's an extremely easy heuristic that works almost all of the time that it's almost not worth arguing about the exceptions. However, when the exceptions do cross your path, it's important to cherish those interactions. These will be some of the best interactions you will have in your life and it's important to value them. That said, Spanky is right, "everyone" is trying to earn and the exceptions are so rare they don't need to be discussed because 1) you'll likely never encounter such a person and 2) if you're lucky enough to do so, you'll *know* right away. He does go on to say that "these people don't know where the X is" on the treasure map and the argument starts to get a bit weaker because not everyone is motivated by money and the log utility of the next dollar is almost meaningless to some people. He's STILL right though, better to work off his premise / basic heuristic than even consider the exceptions, but the argument does get a bit weaker presenting it as the log utility function of the next dollar earned is the same for everyone.
27:00 - Elf Spaces - "We're in an epidemic - the "now" society."
32:00 - "Don't buy sh*t from anybody." Now, he's talking more about some of the projections stuff, the OddsJams of the world etc and he's right about "anything you buy" is an overhead cost that you have to overcome, but it depends on what we're talking about here. Mentions SpankOdds, "don't buy my products" - I get what he's saying, but there is some value in certain types of products. Again, Spanky is right with the easy heuristic.
