Will's accent brought me back to when I biked around Ireland for a month. I was able to get used to the accent pretty quickly, some might find it difficult.
1:30 - I know nothing about American politics, I definitely know nothing about Northern Ireland politics or Sinn Féin (had to Google how to even spell it), but "election results have been in for about 2 years" did I hear that right? I'm not going to spend time looking this up, but what a wild thing to hear 90 seconds in. I don't know if the host Jason prepped, but I'm impressed by his wide breadth of knowledge.
3:30 - LiveDuel - a decentralized sports betting exchange, decentralized team size of 6, built on AVAX. Interesting that he mentions that he almost downplays the crypto/blockchain aspect of it, that's just "part of the tech stack"
8:45 - The differentiation between all other exchange / sportsbook offerings? The entire purpose is to simplify the interface enough to make it retail, "general sports fan" friendly. (Sidenote - having listened to a lot of these, this seems to be the silver bullet that everyone is looking for, if you have a creative solution, it's clearly worth many millions).
10:00 - Jason asks Will to critique Smarkets and it's one of the cooler interview questions ever to be that comfortable to ask for critiques on your own podcast. WIll mentions their biggest comp is BetDEX (Solana based exchange) & Jason brings up SBK as theirs.
13:00 - Jason is negative on blockchain & his opinions sound about as formed as a 9 year old's. I don't get it. Will says no token now, but in roadmap. Tried to bootstrap liquidity through Betfair, but terms weren't favorable/limited control. 17:30 - Jason asks about the latency of Uniswap and Will doesn't really know the answer, wild. 22:15 - Jason talks about paying 2% to deposit his BTC on Coinbase and it's getting really hard to take this seriously.
Dives into oracles and then licensing, but nothing really that interesting. Honestly, sort of checked out because the blockchain discussion couldn’t be any more sophomoric. LiveDuel isn't live yet, needs to be revisited when it's actually live to take more seriously.
