3:00 - SB recap. More of the same as other pods, I'd zoom through.
6:30 - But since I didn't zoom through, here we go with the cumulative luck stat that was floating around. The "data site" in question was Tom Bliss' work for the NFL for anyone who wants to go look at it. Hat tip David Hess @AudacityOfHoops who quickly pointed it out after Tom Bliss tweeted that they are only 5th on a per game basis. Yes, the Chiefs had a bunch of positive variance and yes, it's a recap show so you go off king, but you'd be better off if you just #EmbraceTheVariance.
33:30 - The 10+ minute culmination of a review of the NCAAM ship futures market w/a heavy concentration on coach evals. Dan Hurley / UConn, Bruce Pearl / Auburn, Bill Self / Kansas, keep an eye on Baylor's & Alabama's defensive efficiency, Creighton intriguing based on top 25 OffE/DefE.
45:10 - GRP interview starts. GRP's audio is shaky makes it a little tough at times, but it's not awful.
47:00 - GRP grinding the microfiche of odds in the library of the Sun Times. Hardest grinder of microfiche since Seth Burn grinded political betting odds. Mentions the Gold Sheet product - something I didn't know since I have my own odds screen, the Live Odds link on Gold Sheet's site actually redirects you to WagerTalk's odds screen TIL.
48:00 - 25-50 years old, very little sports betting. Crazy. Easily one of the crazier creation stories around, can't imagine having to try and enter these markets with little exposure after 25 years. Sometimes I feel with some markets if I take a few weeks off things have changed, can't imagine 25 years.
49:20 - The Horseshoe good poker games still, but days are numbered, no parking lot security these days?!?!?!
55:30 - "There's probably a website where you can get the data." Yes, I can confirm this to be true.
57:00 - "A couple of guys paid me a little money", "a couple of guys got some publicity out of the deal" tracking picks. Wait what went on here? I have no prior GRP exposure since I am the Virgin w/3000+ scripts bettor vs the Chad Notebook bettor, but what happened here? Explains how he used Twitter, Twitter is not immutable folks.
1:12:00 - NFL draft props, Harrison 1st non QB, Maye 2nd. "If 6 mock drafts have Harrison 1st non QB and you're offering me even money, I'm going to take it". Not wrong, but more proof that the #EMH isn't real.
1:16:00 - excellent question by the interviewer about the record keeping where there's some unrealized gains being reported that can cause confusion. GRP sounds like he's doing EV calcs for open futures which is very good process, I'm just not sure that information is being conveyed properly. Very good interviewing asked a hard question in a non-confrontational way.
My first exposure to this pod which was recommended to me today. Will definitely give this pod another shot for sure, they have the "conversation" piece down, also good improv humor. However, it was gnawing at me what this pod reminded me of and it's Dennis and Dee doing the podcast / morning show - all that's missing is the soundboard. If you like that style, many do, this pod does the conversation part of podcasting better than a lot of the pods I'm reviewing many will find this more entertaining to listen to than alternatives.
