Hugo Baungartner, VP of Global Markets at Brazilian Sports Operator ApostaGanha. My bias is I don't know literally anything about sports betting in Brazil so I found the subject of this podcast interesting.
1:00 - Brazil is finalizing the passing of new sports betting regulations, not finalized yet though. Have done some organizational restructuring in preparation.
3:00 - What do you expect to change? Advertising, bonuses, money transferring, reporting to the government. Meeting with the govt every 2 weeks. Interesting determination on bonuses - "no credit" can be offered so bonuses as an "initial offer" cannot be offered, but once registered you can offer bonuses, much like cashback, etc. (interesting little legal hurdle there). Govt wants to consider a session a "day" and have operators discount the income tax immediately/daily (although there is a small non-taxable allowance ~$400).
9:00 - Other operators have developed "local teams" to communicate with Brazilians ex: in marketing. Brazil - no land based casinos! (didn't know this)
14:40 - Bigger operators will likely look to bypass the learning curve for the Brazilian markets by doing M&A. Mentions might be cheaper soon, might happen once regulations become firm (waiting on 9 govt docs). "We can talk in October."
16:15 - Market size projection - "very complicated." Brad mentions maybe similar in size to Canadian market which would be interesting. Looking at a November launch.
